Research on kids tv show...

As it was my idea to do a kids tv show I did a little research into kids tv shows, I also sat down and thought about elements we could include in the show. Some ideas I came up with were,  sing a longs and read a longs and make and do. I also came up with  the idea to call the show “when I grow up....” as then we could have focused each show on one profession.

For my research I watched some children's tv shows aimed at younger kids such as old episodes of Barney and Friends, Blues Clues Sesame Street etc.
All of these tv shows have non human characters to convey some of their messages, which I can assume that kids find comforting as most would have teddies etc since they were quite young. In Blues Clues and sesame street there are enthusiastic upbeat human hosts. All 3 of the shows have really bright colours. Each of the three shows are not only fun for kids to watch but they're educational too.

In thinking about this and the options we have for talent and the studio we have, I think we could pull it off quite well.

Interview Questions

As throughout our show we will have 4 different guests we will be asking different questions. Here are some questions I've thought of for the interviews
As we've learned it's better to asked open ended questions so we can gain more information from an interview. Using What Where How Why questions will help gather this information.

Interview at Rothar (bike shop)
1. What are the advantages of using a fixed gear bike?
2.Why do you think fixed gear bikes have become popular?
3.What kind of events take place around the fixed bike culture?
4. How can one get involved in said events?

Ellen Ronayne Interview (Clothes renewal)
1. Why did you first start this?
2. How do you propose to further this hobbie?
3. Who do you look to for inspiration? Why?
4. Why have you not attended flea  Markets with your stuff yet?

Catriona O'Rourke ( Furniture Renewal)
1. How do you decide on what pictures to put on the furniture?
2. Why have you not tried to sell your products at the likes of Dublin Flea Market?
3. What or Who inspires you to make these pieces?
4. If someone wanted to try this out what would they need?

Meabh De Burca
1. What inspired you to make these pieces?
2. Tell us about some of your other work...
3. Tell us about the places your work has taken you.....
4. How can people find out more information about your work?

Final Final Idea

The final idea we had chosen was a show on fixed gear bikes, after discussing this with Leticia, we came to the conclusion that although our idea was good it was lacking in content. We were given advice and ideas, and have decided to base our show on frugal living, taking it back to the easy life, incorporating many things into our show. Our show will include the following components;

Life Hacks- How to improve your life with the simple things, e.g. turning a hoody into a laptop bag.  http://www.lifehack.org/ helped us with this topic, it gave us some ideas of things that we would be able to do live in studio with our presenter.

Fixed Gear Bikes- As this had been part of our original idea we decided to keep it in, even though we had shortened what we could do with it. Gareth has a great interest into this and has taken it to look up information on it.

The next part I can't think of a title to use, but essentially we're using the means we have to fill our show. We have friends involved in the art scene who take old things and renew them into better things. 2 of the 3 don't have information up online about the things that they do.
However our studio guest Meabh De Burca will be talking to us about her projects in which she takes old rubbish and transforms it into beautiful things, such as turning old plastic bottles into lampshades.

This is her website some examples of her work are on here.
"I aim to show the endless possibilites of these everyday overlooked material, to reclaim them from becoming waste and to give them a new significance."
This qoute in some ways helps to describe our show, it's also the qoute Meabh uses to describe her work.

Final Ideas

The final three Ideas that we've narrowed down to are
1. Fixie Bike show
2.Gardening show
3.Kids show

In the end we decided to go for choice number 1, a show on fixie bikes. Before we came to this decision I had done some research and gathered some ideas for a kids tv show.
